1_ Idea + Configuration = Design Language
Moodo approached Trim to develop a long-view strategy and its first fragrance device. We saw this as a great challenge and opportunity to create a different experience from what exists in the fragrance diffuser Market. After brainstorming with Moodo team, we came out with the idea to give the user the possibility to create their own fragrance by mixing different basic ones. This created a new concept of home fragrance devices by giving the user a playful experience to customize ambience fragrances easily. After having the basic concept idea, we explored different compositions to find the right balance between quantity of basic fragrances and form factor of the device. The four capsules iconic configuration for the device gave the perfect solution for the branding development, logo, capsules packaging, mobile App.
2_UX and UI
Continuing with our branding strategy for Moodo , we combined the physical with the digital, to create an intuitive app with the same iconic language, simplifying the learning process. The app includes a Lab where you can mix new fragrances, a shop on line where you can buy new collections and a library where you can share your favorite ones.
3_Designing only the necessary
Composition, proportions and details gave to this device a simple yet sophisticated look. We integrated all necesary mechanical requirements in the main part, giving a feel of one solid body. We took all unnecessary things away, and left only the essential. the design of the capsule was based on multiple technical parameters: Air flow, attachment to the device, easy assembly and cost. In order to make the system smart, we developed for Moodo, a simple yet sophisticated label that allows the device to recognize multiple fragrances that are in use.
4_Agile Development process
Trim multi-disciplinary team of designers and engineers work shoulder-to-shoulder from the start of the project, and throughout the product development process, verifying manufacturability while maintaining design quality and reducing time to market. We design and engineer almost at the same time, this allows us to keep and improve the design look and feel during the whole process. Keeping the design simple and beautiful from outside, and efficient and organized from inside. We make models and prototypes testing how the product feels and how mechanical solutions work to validate our design, improving everything all the time, reducing risks and delays as well as keeping the desired costs.
