01 The Challenge
Our primary goals were to reduce the overall size, ensure clear visibility in direct sunlight, and design a resilient mounting system adaptable to multiple installation configurations.
02 The Inspiration
To enhance the user experience, we adopted the familiar visual language of traffic lights, using high-contrast shapes and colors to enable quick and effortless recognition.
03 Design Exploration
Minimalist concept: a circular geometry minimizes occlusion, and a bio-inspired, conformal attachment (snail-like) enables secure mounting across diverse surface types.
04 User Interface
We kept control simple with three top-mounted buttons: Mode, “+” and “–”. The layout supports straightforward operation, with button feedback designed to feel firm and precise.
05 Flexible Mount
The mounting system was designed for installation on the dashboard or windshield, with an adaptable mechanism to position and support the display across different vehicle interiors.
06 Engineering
Engineered for high-volume manufacturing, part count reduced, tooling simplified, and assembly optimized, achieving a minimal envelope with maximum display real estate.
The Results
Design & usability
A compact display brings together clear visual signals, three physical controls and a flexible mount. The design focuses on readability, straightforward interaction and integration into different vehicle interiors.
Engineering & production
TRIM developed the product’s physical design and mechanical details, refining the enclosure, controls and mounting solution with manufacturing and assembly in mind.
Award & recognition
TRIM’s work for Mobileye received the 2010 Ot Ha’Itzuv Design Award in the Industrial Design category.
